Monday-Friday 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Saturday 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Please note the pool opens a half hour after the facility and closes a half hour before the facility.

Alex’s Place – Teen Center: Alex’s Place was created through the efforts of The Alexandra Gagnon Foundation to provide safe, enlightening, educational, and entertaining experiences for teens on Martha’s Vineyard.

Our permanent facility is approximately 5,000 sq feet spanning two floors, with program activity rooms, a kitchen and performing arts space. The Base @ Alex’s Place is our performing arts space and includes a stage, sound system, professional stage lighting, seats from 40-90, and our newly upgraded Studio 57, sponsored by Comcast. Alex’s Place is available to the entire community for rent. Celebrate your child’s birthday, hold a meeting, host a presentation.

Aquatic Center: The Aquatic Center features: 25 yard, 6 lane (7 yards wide) Competitive Lap Pool; Recreational Pool and Waterslide; Low chlorine (UV light filtration system.) Swim caps are required. The Lap Pool opens a half hour after the Y opens and closes a half hour before the Y closes. The number of lanes available for lap swimming varies throughout the day. Recreational Pool hours vary from day to day; please refer to the pool schedule for additional information.

Please note: For safety reasons, all children under age 13 years must pass a deep water swim test in order to use the pool without adult supervision. Adult must remain on premises. All non-swimmers must be supervised by a responsible adult, who is in the water and remains within arm’s reach of the child. Persons unable to pass a swim test must stay in water that is not over their shoulders.

Healthy Agers: Physical activity is essential in maintaining a higher quality of life and independence among active agers. Regular exercise provides many practical benefits, including reducing the risk of diseases, injury and conditions such as diabetes, osteoporosis, coronary artery disease and high blood pressure. Stronger muscles, better balance and coordination, and higher energy levels all work together to maintain or improve basic living skills. Group Exercise: We offer over 70 group exercise classes per week. All are included free with your membership. Classes vary in style and technique and cover all levels and core areas of fitness including strength training, stretching and flexibility, cardio, and more!

Financial Assistance: The YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard is a non-profit charitable organization committed to building strong communities, families, and individuals. We believe no one should be denied membership or program participation due to financial circumstances. 

Financial assistance is made possible through charitable donations to our scholarship fund, and is granted based on the need demonstrated by household income and/or extenuating circumstances.  Each application is reviewed on an individual basis; scholarship is awarded as a percent off total membership or program cost.  We strongly encourage you to visit the Y to see how our scholarship program can help you and your family live a healthier life.

Personal Training: Our Certified Personal Trainers use their knowledge of current research concepts, methods of sound exercise principles and state-of-the-art equipment to guide you to your fitness goals. Based on your health and individual needs, your Personal Trainer designs and implements a program tailored just for you.

Our Personal Trainers will help you, coach you, motivate and inspire you to reach your goals. At the Y, you will be part of a welcoming and nurturing environment where together we will achieve the results you have always wanted.

Safety Education: American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid Training and Certification for Lay Responders. Learn the basics of becoming the first link in the Chain of Survival, and understand your role as a potential preserver of life and source of communicator of vital information to Professional Rescuers.

Respond with the confidence, the skills and the reassuring demeanor that can help save a life. Two Year Certification upon successful course completion. Course offered monthly. All classes held in Alex’s Place (The Teen Center at the YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard) Saturdays from 9:00-Noon. Pre-Registration and Payment before class is required.

Lifeguard Certification Courses: The American Red Cross Lifeguarding course provides entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over. *Course does not include Waterfront Skills. Youth Services: Membership to the YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard includes use of the Child Watch facility, outdoor playground and outdoor basketball court at no additional cost.
