The Memory Café is a concept that began in Europe and rapidly spread in popularity with many cafes now offered in the U.S. The MV Memory Café idea was brought to the island by a seasonal resident who had visited one in Baltimore, Maryland. With a generous donation from this family and the support of the Center for Living the café found temporary space at the Y and began weekly operation in February of 2015. The Café offers live music, conversation, monthly art interventions from the MV Museum, and card games for people with with memory problems. The cafe also welcomes their caregivers to attend. Attendance runs in the mid to high twenties weekly. The Café welcomes all who wish to join us.
